History

For over 150 years, the business of the Vann family has been business.

From real estate development in New York City to oil wells in Texas, the Vann Group’s business heritage spans five generations of entrepreneurs, astute investors, and business people. The family’s business activity began in the early 1800’s when Joseph Fisher launched a long and successful career developing real estate in New York City. Joseph’s son, Albert, continued the family’s entrepreneurial activities by making a number of profitable investments, including the purchase of Texas oil wells that are still providing the family with dividends today. Alpert’s son, Samuel, understood the implications of technology, was astute in identifying trends that would shape the future, and became an accomplished investor in his own right. During World War II, Bruce Vann (Kevin Vann’s father), married Samuel’s sister, Jean. Bruce, a fighter pilot during the war, took his military instincts and transformed them into business success. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, he owned and operated several successful businesses in the Springfield, Massachusetts area.

Continuing the entrepreneurial and business spirit that has guided the family for generations; Kevin Vann, Chairman of the Vann Group; has been building, buying, selling and advising companies for over thirty years. He founded Dufault, Vann & Company in 1979 and built it into one of the largest and most successful accounting firms in Western Massachusetts.

In 1999, Kevin’s son, Michael, left his career at a Fortune 500 consulting firm in Washington DC to join the family business. Under his guidance, the Vann Group has enjoyed double digit growth every year of its operation.

Over the past several years, Kevin and Mike have carefully handpicked team members; John Carella, Nicholas Carella, Thomas Lippie, and Daniel Yacuzzo; each known and respected as experts in their respective fields of construction and commercial real estate, accounting and finance, organizational development and the restaurant and hospitality industry.

Kevin and Michael Vann have taken the lessons of their past and merged them with the business environment of today’s world to create a truly unique business experience. The Vann Group is the culmination of 150 years of business experience and entrepreneurial spirit – a business advisory firm second to none.
